    I think that the reason that this works is because when we look at it normally, we don't observe it as a whole, we instead try to concentrate on the beginning. By slanting your eyes, it forces you to view it as a whole and therefore shows you the meaning of it. But of course this is just a theory... BY A 12 YEAR OLD!!

    I don't think it's the Chinese thing. It's just 3 Dimensional engraving and an illusion. Like those picture you turn on different angles to see different pics.

    These sorts of drawings are used for checking anybody's eyes, not just the Chinese.
